Due to the example of others, I started an email account for Mila not too long ago and have written a few emails to her over the months. I thank those who have shared this idea with me in the past. I am excited for the day when I tell Mila about her email account...I'm thinking maybe when she turns 12. I dunno. Anyway, I thought I'd share today's letter. It expresses the firm testimony I have of how close to the Lord and how receptive to the Spirit children are. I only wish they could communicate more clearly what they already know and what they are feeling.
Mila, This week from time to time you have stated to me "Temple, Jesus" which I have followed by asking, "Do you want to go to the temple to see Jesus?" You enthusiastically have said, "Uh huh," and so today I decided to drive us both up to the Visitors' Center so you could see the Christus statue.
Thank you for reminding me to visit the temple often. Thank you for placing me in an environment where the Spirit could be felt so easily. You are a great example to me, and I believe more and more what your father said in a blessing to me before you were born, that you are a choice child of God and that you were taught by our Father in Heaven before you came to this earth.
As we walked around the missionary exhibit in the Visitors' Center I couldn't help but imagine you as a missionary. Whether or not you serve a full-time mission, I know you will be a missionary to those you come in contact with. Continue strengthening your testimony, and I will seek to aid you in this endeavor. I love you. Thank you for a great outing today.
I have to add that I left the Visitors' Center today nostalgic for my days of teaching. We stopped by the "Witnesses of Christ" exhibit for a moment and listened to the testimonies of some of the apostles and as I listened and felt the Spirit I remembered how frequently this occurred while teaching. I worry that at the time I took for granted feeling the Spirit daily and hearing individuals testify of Christ. Life can be tiring at times and with my body not feeling 100% the spirit within me has definitely been affected. But I'm grateful for places like the temple that invite the Spirit so quickly back into our lives. And I'm grateful for our Savior who gave us the gift of repentance which allows us to change and become better.
