Prego Pictures

Thanks to our friend, Whitney, and her amazing photography skills (which can be seen in more detail here) we were able to have some pregnancy shots taken. These are me at 32 1/2 weeks. We're so excited to have her come take pictures again after our little daughter arrives. Well enjoy!

General Conference 2011

I absolutely love this time of year. The weather is starting to show signs of Spring, Easter is just around the corner, and the leaders of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, address us in General Conference. I felt I would not be acting upon the counsel we received this weekend if I didn't take the chance to share my thoughts and feelings about Conference. (I've attached many links to the talks I reference in hopes that if one catches your attention you'll take time to click on the link and listen to the talk.) I have to start back with the General Young Women's session. I had the chance to listen last week to the talks given in this session and loved, loved, loved Sister Elaine S. Dalton's talk. She spoke about each young woman's walk to the temple and how there are some decisions they only need to make once. Decisions like staying morally clean in order to enter the temple one day. I sure am glad that that is a decision Chase and I both chose to only make once because it made my 24 years of waiting to marry way easier. She also mentioned that mothers are the #1 example of modesty and virtue for their daughters. It helped me realize the example I need to be for our future daughter. After the Saturday morning session of Conference I felt the overwhelming message to become like a little child by learning from our little ones. It made me so grateful for the opportunity I have had to be surrounded by nieces and nephews who have taught me a thing or two about faith and the power of prayer, but even more grateful for the opportunity Chase and I will have next month to start learning lessons from our own daughter. I also loved from this session Elder Quentin L. Cook's talk about how incredible our LDS women are. What a pick-me-up for all women! Elder Dallin H. Oaks' talk on desire was a direct answer to a concern I approached Conference with. I loved the quote he used given by Elder Neal A. Maxwell that states, "What we insistently desire overtime is what we will eventually become..." I have some desires that I hope will mold me into who I truly want to become. This post is a result of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk on Sunday where he encouraged us to use technology to spread the gospel. How can you not love President Uchtdorf's talks? Both my husband, father, and students have commented on how much they loved his talk during Priesthood session. I can't wait to watch it. I couldn't help but think of one of my favorite pictures from our wedding day as President Thomas S. Monson spoke on the importance of temples. I wrote in my notes the statement he made to the youth: "Always have the temple in your sights!" What great counsel for each of us since busy schedules often times push the temple to the back of our mind. This picture reminds me of our prophet's charge to us: I loved and want to reread Elder Richard G. Scott's talk during the Sunday afternoon session as he reflected on marriage and how important it is to express gratitude and love to our spouses often. You could sense the love and respect he had for his dear wife. I hope each of you who actually read through this lengthy post will take Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's challenge to reflect on the unique phenomenon that General Conference is and determine what personal epistles the Lord was sending you through these speakers. I know that the Lord's voice was heard this weekend through His chosen servants. I am grateful that the heavens are open and that we have the opportunity to receive revelation and guidance to help us through life.

My First Shower

Earlier last month I had the opportunity to be encircled by so many lovely ladies (and a few kiddos :) ). My cousin, Trish, and my old roommate, Beth, headed up an amazing shower. They really out did themselves! I was amazed at how they thought of every detail. Like for example, best thing ever, Trish made thank you cards in advance so when I was opening gifts all she did was write down what each person gave me on a sticky note and put one on each card. Geniusness!! It's making the process of writing thank you notes so much easier. Here are some other examples of their attention to detail...the decorations:
Clothes hanging from clothes pins along the stair banisters. The food was all yummy! Thank you to Emily, Kim, Lindsi, and Courtney who also helped to provide food. Beth made these super cute cupcakes, which were a huge hit.

Boston wanted to help me open presents. He was trying things out for me and making me laugh the whole time.
I really am grateful for so many amazing women in my life who took time out of their busy Saturday to come celebrate our little daughter's upcoming arrival! And thank you to two amazing hostesses, Beth and Trish!!
