Soccer Season is Upon Us!

It's that time of year again...the MLS soccer season has begun!! Last weekend was Real Salt Lake's opening game here at home against the LA Galaxy. Chase and I had the privilege of going to the game with my SILs Karlee and Dayna. The game was awesome! We came out in full force scoring in the first minute (I of course missed that goal because I had to go to the bathroom...story of my life). That's okay though because we ended up scoring four goals that night, winning the game 4-1. Sadly, me along with most of the crowd missed the third goal of the night because Jimmer was on the big screen and everyone was cheering for him and trying to figure out where he was in the stadium rather than watching the game. Whoops! You could tell that Jimmer felt bad that he pulled the attention away from the game. So where was Jimmer that night? Oh he was in the box where we were enjoying the game!! That's right, we were just seats away from the BYU star. We were advised not to ask him for autographs or pictures (to my nephew Jacob's dismay) but we did snap a shot on Chase's iPhone just for proof that he really was there. Rubbing shoulders that night solidified what a class act he, his girlfriend, and family are. What a start to Real's season!

Things To Look Foward To

I'm in my final trimester, and find myself, like every other pregnant woman, hoping that I don't go the full 40 weeks. Today I thought I'd make a list of things I am looking forward to that I hope will pass the next 10 weeks along relatively quickly.

In order of occurrence:
  • March Maddness...I have bracket competitions going both with my family and my faculty!
  • A Gunnell/Stratford family shower
  • General Conference
  • A girls' weekend with my roommates
  • Spring Break (granted I still have to work, but hey, I get a break from teaching)
  • Easter and hopefully constant warmer weather by then
  • Attending Women's Conference with my SIL Kari, who is flying in from Texas
  • A Johnson family shower
  • Mothers' Day
  • Chase's birthday
Hopefully, our little one decides to arrive anytime between my Johnson shower and Chase's birthday, but if not, I have things to occupy my time. Please feel free to inform me of other exciting events that can help me pass the time along :)

A new couple that moved into our condos just opened up a new frozen yogurt joint. It's called Yogurtland, and it's located next to Smashburger in the same shopping center as Men's Wearhouse and Plato's Closet. Apparently it is a franchise that originates in Cali, which lucky for us means they use Ghirardelli chocolate...yum yum! They had a pre-opening trial run on Friday night that we hit up with Chase's sister, Karlee, and her bud, Morgan, and then we invited some of the ward to come on Saturday, their opening day, after Stake Conference.

*This picture was stolen from Rachel O'Brien...i figured since Danny covered my face I could steal this picture from you Rach :)

I have to say, it's really good! They weigh your selection, and you pay by the ounce, which their price by ounce is cheaper than any other place. And, they have so many yummy flavors. I think this will be my new favorite dessert stop because I feel healthy eating it!! Yeah for guiltless indulgences.

BYU Breaks My Heart

Okay, so time out from the sporadic updates on our life; I have to digress for a bit and let off a little steam.

BYU is once again breaking my heart. It's as though we are cursed in any sport (I'm really just going off of football and basketball here). It seems to me that when we find ourselves ranked nationally in the top 10 we end up ruining our momentum by losing to a non-ranked school. I don't know how many of you watched the basketball game against New Mexico last night but I was so disappointed. Not because we lost Davies (although that is very disappointing) but because our players just weren't making the shots. So frustrating! I guess we must have been getting prideful after such an awesome win against San Diego, and our loss is part of a humbling process we must undergo, but I was really looking forward to placing BYU further than one round this year in my March Madness bracket. Now I'm not so sure I want to make that kind of gamble.

Come on boys...lets pull it together!
